The power of the photograph
Amazing pictures of planet Jupiter, from the Guardian.
It seems impossible that this can happen! Planet Jupiter from 5,000km above. The NASA probe called Juno has been in orbit around the giant planet since July 2016, after a six year journey to even get there. It sends back incredible photographs of tall, white storm clouds standing high above the brown-orange blanket that covers the planet. Jupiter’s wild weather. Time-lapse images revealed the swirls to be enormous cyclones, rotating counter-clockwise in the planet’s northern hemisphere. Ammonia clouds. Lightning. Storms 10 times size of earth’s, on a planet 11 times the size of earth. Most of all, see the incredible beauty of the swirling patterns, and their colours. I wanted to call them earth colours, but I guess not.
